This afternoon I’ve been watching the Foodnetwork’s iron Chef competition from the CIA. FN is really grinding these people through their paces. Problem is as I see it… these competitors are just gettig out of culinary school. They have spent the last couple of years working with the science and business of food, food preparation and presentation.
For anyone who has watched FN for the last 10 years or so, you can think back to Bobby Flay, Giada DeLaurentis, Paula Deen and many others – and they were TERRIBLE on TV at first. The really sucked. But YEARS later, they have been groomed and polished so that they deliver what we food-watchers like and enjoy.
Foodnetwork is putting the RUSH on their folks. Good food takes time, and so does a Good Chef. You can’t rush it – no matter how much money is at steak. (It’s all about money – right?)
